Dennis Schroder helped Germany advance to the quarterfinals of the EuroBasket 2017 Tournament with a victory over France on Saturday.

Germany won the opening single-elimination round game 84-81 in the game played in Istanbul. Schroder, the Hawks’ starting point guard, finished with 21 points, eight assists, four rebounds, two steals and two turnovers. Schroder was 5 of 15 from the field, missing all four 3-point attempts, but was 11 of 11 from the free-throw line.

Germany advances to the quarterfinals of the tournament. It will play the winner of Sunday’s Spain-Turkey game on Tuesday.

Schroder’s new Hawks teammate Marco Belinelli led Italy into the quarterfinals with a 70-57 win over Finland Saturday. Belinelli had a game-high 22 points, four rebounds and two assists. Belinelli was 6 of 9 from the field, including 5 of 8 from 3-point range. Italy advances to play the winner of Sunday’s Serbia-Hungary game on Wednesday.
