The Washington Nationals opted to keep it in the family Thursday.

The Nationals drafted Walton High School shortstop Carter Kieboom with the 28th overall selection in the 2016 MLB draft. Kieboom’s older brother, Spencer, is a catcher with the Nationals’ Double-A affiliate.

Kieboom’s selection was the first time the Nationals selected a position player in the first round since 2011.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Kieboom has shown some true talent on the diamond. He possesses the ability to throw with either arm and was a key piece in Walton’s Class AAAAAA state championship squad.

Kieboom is the youngest of three brothers who play baseball. Along with Spencer is Trevor, who is a rising senior at Georgia.
