Braves great Dale Murphy was not elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame by the Modern Baseball Era Committee on Sunday.

Former Detroit Tigers Jack Morris and Allan Trammell were selected by the 16-member committee, which considered 10 candidates including nine players and former players’ union chief Marvin Miller.

It was Murphy’s first year to be considered by what was formerly known as the Veterans Committee, after the two-time former National League Most Valuable Player fell far short of the required votes from writers during his maximum 15 years on the Baseball Writers’ Association of America ballot.

He can appear on the Modern Baseball Era ballot again when that committee meets in two years.
