My player ratings for Atlanta United following Wednesday’s 7-0 win against New England at Mercedes-Benz Stadium:
Right fullback Anton Walkes, 9: Scored his second goal this season with a shot from a tight angle late in the first half.
Centerback Michael Parkhurst, 9: Really, what's to complain about? The team matched the largest margin of victory in MLS history and held a team without a shot for the first time in league history.
Centerback Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, 9: Picked up a yellow card in the first half and, because of accumulation, must must Saturday's game against Orlando City. ... (See comments about Parkhurst).
Left fullback Greg Garza, 9: His shot hit the arm of New England's Je-Vaughn Watson and left to Josef Martinez's penalty kick in the 30th minute. ... Picked up an assist on Walkes' goal. It was his fifth assist this season. ... Subbed out at halftime for rest, which means he may play against Orlando City on Saturday.
Holding midfielder Carlos Carmona, 9: Again, what's to complain about?
Holding midfielder Jeff Larentowicz, 9: LIke everyone else on ATlanta United's defense, Larentowicz didn't have much to do. He was subbed out early, which pre-emptively prevented him from picking up a fifth yellow card this season, which would have resulted in a one-game suspension and forced him to miss Saturday's game.
Right midfielder Hector Villalba,9: Combined very well with Miguel Almiron, Larentowicz and Walkes on the right in the first half. ... Scpred his 11th goal this season with a shot in the 90th minute.
Attacking midfielder Miguel Almiron, 9: Picked up his team-leading 12th assist on Martinez's goal in the second minute. ...
Left midfielder Yamil Asad, 9: Scored his fourth goal this season, and the sixth of the game, in the 74th minute.
Striker Josef Martinez, 10: Making his 10th start, he scored his 11th goal in the second minute with a left-footed shot from a tight angle. ... Scored his 12th goal in the 30th minute on a penalty kick. ... Added his 13th goal, and second hat-trick this season, with another penalty kick in the 39th minute.
