My choice for Atlanta United's man of the match following Saturday's 0-0 draw with New England at Gillette Stadium:

BRAD GUZAN

Goalkeeper

Why: He finished with four saves as the anchor of a defense that was under siege for most of the game's 90 minutes.

He said he got lucky when he almost missed punching a free kick late in the second half. The ball skimmed off the cross bar and out of bounds. He made up for that by controlling a weak shot following a free kick by Lee Nguyen in the final minutes.

The draw moves Atlanta United (15-8-8) to 53 points and within striking distance of second-place NYCFC in the MLS Eastern Conference.

“At this point in the season every point is vital in term of the finish,” he said. “We knew it was going to be a hard game coming in and it surely didn’t disappoint. It was hard from the first to the last minute.”
