Player ratings for Atlanta United following its MLS game against Chicago on Saturday at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium:

The rating system is 0-10, with 0 representing a meltdown and 10 representing a career-defining performance. These are meant to be used as conversation.

Goalkeeper: Alec Kann, 6. Really, not much to do outside of a few minutes in the first half. He faced three shots and three crosses.

Fullback: Tyrone Mears, 6. Had to pull down David Accam once to prevent a counter-attack. Fired a few crosses in that weren't taken advantage of. He had 90 touches and 74 passes with an accuracy of 93.2 percent.

Centerhalf: Leandro Pires, 7. He patiently moved the ball around as Atlanta United dominated possession. he led both teams with 144 touches and 137 passes.

Centerhalf: Michael Parkhurst (captain), 6. A relatively easy day for the captain. The few times Chicago threatened were usually broken up before the got to him. He had 125 touches and 120 passes with an accuracy of 92.2 percent.

Fullback: Greg Garza, 7. Garza must have looked like one big grass stain after the game. He got knocked around pretty good, but kept getting back up and getting into threatening positions. He had 140 touches and 113 passes with a 92.9 percent accuracy. He created two chances.

Midfielder: Carlos Carmona, 6. Chicago going down to 10 men made his job that much easier. A quietly effective day. He created two chances, had 125 touches and completed 118 passes.

Midfielder: Julian Gressel, 7. His cross led to the own-goal. He later earned a corner kick. He followed that in the second half with a rocket from 20 yards that sailed just wide of the post. He completed 87 percent of his passes.

Midfielder: Hector Villalba, 7. He scored his first goal off a deflected cross. He created three chances, had 42 touches and 32 passes.

Midfielder: Miguel Almiron, 8. He assisted on Martinez's first goal, tracked back on defense and consistently caused Chicago problems. It was his second assist this season. He led the team with three tackles. He created two chances and completed 73 passes.

Midfielder: Yamil Asad, 7. He assisted on Martinez's second goal. He won two fouls, created a chance and completed 101 passes.

Striker: Josef Martinez, 9. He forced the red card that reduced Chicago to 10 men and later scored his fourth and fifth goal in the past two games. He had just 32 touches.
