Marietta police are investigating a weekend crash on I-75 in Cobb County that critically injured two children.

The incident happened Sunday at the Canton Road Connector ramp, police spokesman Jared Rakestraw said. One lane of southbound I-75 was closed for about two hours Wednesday while police gathered information.

About 9:15 a.m. Sunday, a Florida woman, Tiffany Brooks, made an abrupt lane change in her Chevrolet Venture minivan and struck a Honda Civic that was in the lane to her right, Rakestraw said.

After colliding with the Civic, Brooks’ minivan spun and overturned multiple times, Rakestraw said. The minivan came to rest on its roof on the west shoulder of the interstate.

Brooks’ children, who were unrestrained in the back of the minivan, were ejected and landed on the entrance ramp, Rakestraw said. The children, ages 8 and 4, were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, where they are in critical condition.

Brooks was treated at WellStar Kennestone Hospital and released, Rakestraw said. At least one person in the Civic was taken to WellStar Hospital with minor injuries.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call 770-794-5352.
