A suspect in a fatal shooting outside a south Fulton County convenience store was captured today in Alabama, authorities said.

Police arrested Marcus Payne, 39, of College Park, around 12:15 p.m. at a family member’s residence in Hoover, Ala., Capt. Jim Coker with the Hoover Police Department said.

After the shooting, which took place around 10:18 p.m. Wednesday, Union City police discovered 39-year-old Evan Campbell of College Park dead in the parking lot of the Chevron Food Mart in the 5800 block of Buffington Road, police said. An unidentified woman who appeared to have been shot several times was taken to a local hospital. Her condition was not available this afternoon.

Investigators have determined that the shooting came after a domestic dispute, police said. Payne has been charged with murder, aggravated assault and other offenses.

Payne is now being held in the Hoover jail, Coker said.
