Former astronaut and U.S. senator John Glenn will be laid to rest Thursday morning.

The man who made history in 1962 when he became the first American to orbit the earth will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery following a private service for family and invited guests. Then, beginning at 9:40 a.m., the U.S. Marine Corps will live stream the graveside processional and service and the playing of taps. The event will conclude at 10:25 a.m.

Glenn, a Marine fighter pilot who flew 59 combat missions in the South Pacific during World War II, died on Dec. 8 at the age of 95.
