Temps in Atlanta surpass 70-degree mark

Temperatures throughout the Atlanta area have reached the 70s, according to Channel 2 Action News.
It was 72 degrees in Atlanta just before 4 p.m. Most of the metro area surpassed the 70-degree mark Thursday afternoon, with LaGrange hitting 75 and Athens registering 74.

The average high for this time of year is 52 degrees.
“The (Atlanta) record for today is in the mid-70s,” Channel 2 meteorologist Brad Nitz said. “It’s 75. Won’t quite get there.”
The next chance of rain is Monday. By then, metro Atlanta will have had a string of unseasonably warm days, meteorologists said.
Highs are expected to reach 71 degrees Friday, 67 Saturday and 68 Sunday, according to Channel 2.
