A 57-year-old man died in a residential fire in Carroll County, the fire chief told Channel 2 Action News.

The victim, identified as Tim Horavath by Channel 2, was inside the residence on Holiday Drive in Carrollton, Chief Scott Blue said. No one else was in the structure.

Neighbors told the news station they heard an explosion Wednesday night. Four propane tanks were found near the home.

Channel 2 reported that Horavath survived the initial blast and actually called 911.

The investigation is ongoing, but Blue told Channel 2 that the fire probably started on a back porch and that Horavath likely died of smoke inhalation. Firefighters found him in a back bathroom.

The blaze burned so hot at times that it melted the siding off and caught the vacant home next door on fire, Channel 2 reported.

Neighbors said they are having a hard time getting someone to clean up the carcasses
