The Woodstock City Council has signed off on an agreement with Cherokee County to accept $250,000 in federal funds to help fund an expansion of the William G. Long Senior Center.

Community Development Block Grant funds to the county will go toward a new multi-purpose room at the senior center, 223 Arnold Mill Road. Also, the center’s kitchen will be renovated and an outdoor pavilion will be relocated from the front to the rear of the facility to make room for the new construction.

Operated by the Woodstock Parks and Recreation Department, the center is expanding to serve the city’s growing senior population.
