If you’re wondering whether you live in one of Georgia’s safest cities, an analysis of recent FBI crime data can provide some insight.

SafeWise used data from 2015 to determine the state’s 50 safest cities, all of which reported fewer than 40 total violent and property crimes per 1,000 people.

The home security analysis company limited cities to those submitted a complete crime report to the FBI and that have more than 4,000 residents. There are about 150 such cities in Georgia, based on census figures.

Here are the rankings, according to SafeWise’s report:

Top 10 safest cities in Georgia

3. Senoia (Coweta County)

4. Summerville (Chattooga County)

5. Braselton (Barrow, Gwinnett, Hall and Jackson counties)

6. Perry (Houston County)

7. Tyrone (Fayette County)

8. Peachtree City (Fayette County)

9. Port Wentworth (Chatham County)

10. Flowery Branch (Hall County)

The company explains its methodology online.

The FBI has cautioned against such rankings, saying they are "merely a quick choice made by the data user" that do not provide insight into the many variables that mold crime, possibly leading "to simplistic and/or incomplete analyses that often create misleading perceptions adversely affecting cities and counties, along with their residents."
