This is "Actual Factual Gwinnett," a regular column in which I answer reader questions about Gwinnett happenings and history. Enjoy!
Reader Cathie asks:
Are there still plans to put ramps from McGinnis Ferry Road to Interstate 85?
Cathie is asking about a project planned to add access ramps from McGinnis Ferry Road in Suwanee to I-85. The Gwinnett County Department of Transportation and the Georgia Department of Transportation are working together on the project, according to county spokesman Joe Sorenson.

The Interchange Justification Report, a document making the case for why the ramps should be added, was approved by the federal government earlier this year, Sorenson said. Gwinnett County has solicited design proposals for the ramp project, and the county DOT expects to ask the county board of commissioners to approve a design agreement with a consultant within two months, Sorenson said.
Federal and state funding for the project is set for fiscal year 2022, which begins in July 2021. In order to begin construction before then, Georgia would have to provide funding earlier.
The project is still on, but it will not get done for a few years.
