A Caribbean fast food spot is opening with a bang Saturday in Tucker.

The Pollo Tropical grand opening at 4235 Lavista Road will include giveaways, drawings and face painting. But try to get there early — free 1/4 chickens with rice and beans will be available for the first 100 customers, who will also be entered in a drawing to win free chicken for a year.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m.

See the Facebook event for a full schedule.

The opening is part of a larger expansion into the area from the Miami-based company, which opened its first metro Atlanta location five years ago and has built that number to 16. In addition to Tucker, stores in McDonough, Gainesville, Newnan, Hiram and Marietta have opened this year.

Chief Operating Officer Danny Meisenheimer said expansion in the Atlanta area is a "crucial element" in the overall growth of the company.

"It’s a dynamic time for our brand in this market," Meisenheimer said in a release.

The 3,700-square-foot restaurants have indoor and outdoor seating, limited table service and drive-thrus. Oh, and possibly the best part: kids eat free all day on Tuesdays with the purchase of an adult entree.
