Two Georgia companies made the cut in the 10th edition of business media brand Fast Company's 2017 list of the world's 50 most innovative companies.
Fast Company describes its list of companies as those that “tap both heartstrings and purse strings and use the engine of commerce to make a difference in the world.”
Popular Atlanta-based company The Home Depot (No. 43) was included "for growing without building," according to Fast Company.

In their explainer, Fast Company highlighted some of the company's big wins: an estimated $90 billion in annual revenue in 2016 and an innovate e-commerce initiative.
One of The Home Depot's first Atlanta locations opened on Memorial Drive on June 22, 1979, by Bernie Marcus and Arthur Blank. Today, the company headquarters is in Cobb County.

MailChimp, a newer Atlanta email marketing company founded in 2001, came in at No. 47 "for giving little guys the marketing savvy of an 800-pound gorilla," Fast Company analysts wrote.
In addition to its uptick in e-commerce users, the Atlanta company was also applauded by Fast Company for its revenue growth, which was more than $400 million in 2016.
