Staffing regulations meant drivers in Gwinnett County had to go miles out of their way to get around a train blocking the road Saturday night.

The train pulled onto the siding track on Arnold Road between Kentshire Way and Hayward Lane so another train could pass, CSX told Channel 2 Action News.

That train had a mechanical issue and got stuck on Hosea Road for several hours.

The crew on board the Arnold Road train had to leave after the shift ended because they are only allowed to work a certain number of hours, Channel 2 reported.

Another crew had to be brought in to operate the train.

Drivers and residents had to go several miles out of their way to get around the broken-down train, Channel 2 reported.

Neighbor John Cook told Channel 2 trains often break down and frustrate the community, though CSX denied an ongoing problem.

"I mean, if they had an emergency, they couldn't even get to the emergency, could they? Not really," Cook said.
