An intersection with a new traffic pattern in Johns Creek is now operational.

Where McGinnis Ferry and Sargent roads meet, a Florida-T pattern has been installed.

A Florida-T pattern provides both deceleration and acceleration lanes for left turning vehicles. So, drivers traveling west on McGinnis Ferry Road through the Sargent Road intersection can continue without having to stop.

Drivers in the left turn lane will either have a red signal, a flashing left turn signal — which indicates yielding to oncoming traffic — or they will have a green arrow that provides them with the right way.

Johns Creek officials say that the Florida-T is designed “to provide more continuous and safer movement for traffic.”

Barriers at the intersection are temporary until the McGinnis Ferry Road widening project commences. The final project will include curb and gutter improvements and landscaped islands.

Johns Creek officials say they will continue to monitor the new traffic pattern and make adjustments as needed.
