The numbers are in, and elementary school students make up nearly half of Gwinnett County Public Schools students.

Kids in kindergarten through fifth grade make up 44.2 percent of the district’s students, according to numbers from the district’s annual “first count” of enrollment. Those students are spread across 84 county schools and programs.

Jackson Elementary School in Lawrenceville is the largest elementary school in the county by enrollment, with 1,503 students. Close behind is Lilburn Elementary School, with 1,492 students, putting it in second place.

Chattahoochee Elementary School is in third place with 1,400 students, followed by Rockbridge Elementary at 1,374 and Cooper Elementary at 1,368.
