All across Gwinnett County, from Buford to Loganville, businesses have been opening, expanding, diversifying — you name it — in September.

They're good places to know about because who knows, one day you may need to buy some bamboo flooring, change your tires or have a baby.

So see below for a selection of businesses that have received ribbon-cutting ceremonies this month, according to the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce website.

Buford: Von MaurThe Iowa-based department store opened at the Mall of Georgia Sept. 17. The new two-level, 165,000-square-foot store assumed the mall's renovated anchor spotwhich was vacated by Nordstorm in February 2015. It is just one of many businesses opening at the mall over the next couple months.

Braselton: Labor & Delivery services at Northeast Georgia Medical CenterGood news for expectant moms in the area: NGMC now delivers babies. The new "locked unit" — which means only those with permission may enter  — opened Sept. 12 with 10 labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum (LDRP) rooms, two cesarean section suites and on-site lactation consultants. Also, an infant security system that's employed through adjustable bands attached to the babies' ankles.

Lilburn: Simple FloorsThe Atlanta-based company that delivers pre-finished hardwood, laminate, cork and bamboo floors to homes and job sites across the company held a ribbon-cutting Sept. 13. Other Georgia locations include Lilburn, Buford, Alpharetta and Douglasville.

Loganville: The UPS Store This location held a reopening ceremony on Sept. 23. You'll swing by here anytime you need to ship something, use a notary, print a document or any of the other myriad reasons one goes to a UPS.
