With nearly 30,000 bucolic acres of marshland, lakes, mountains and picturesque English Gothic-inspired architecture, its no surprise Berry College in Rome, Georgia, was recognized as the state's most beautiful college campus by travel experts at Travel + Leisure.

Editors at the travel site considered both setting and scenery, as well as the upkeep of the campus grounds, to make their decision.

After participating in campus visits, virtual tours and extensive research, they picked their choice of “the most enchanting school” in every state.

The experts shared a lot of praise for the small college in Rome, located about an hour and a half north of metro Atlanta.

If you're looking for a college that could double as the setting of Downton Abbey, Berry College runs away with the award—and the campus actually has been used as a filming site for movies including Remember the Titans and Sweet Home Alabama. Though the student body is quite small, Berry boasts 27,000 acres of hills, streams, meadows, and beautiful architecture, making it the largest contiguous campus on Earth.

Great Value Colleges also ranked the private liberal arts college second out of 30 colleges among the best small colleges for nature-lovers, since the entire campus is essentially an outdoor classroom.

In fact, the school is home to about 16,000 acres of wildlife management area, including 40 miles of hiking, biking and horseback riding trails.

On its website, the school also features live eagle cams of its two beloved bald eagles who welcomed two new baby eagles on Valentine's Day.
