In the modern political insults dictionary, a snowflake is roughly defined: someone prone to upset, hypersensitive and who may take offense to the views of others.
The term was surely hurled in the draining race for the 6th District U.S. House seat, which was the most expensive race of its kind in history and caused rifts among neighbors and friends.
In an apparent nod to the discord, campaign signs for Republican Karen Handel, who won the race, and Democrat Jon Ossoff were cut into snowflake shapes and placed around Dunwoody.
City spokesman Bob Mullen said they turned up mysteriously at intersections, including Womack Road and Chamblee Dunwoody Road.
City code enforcement workers started sweeps to pull them down, Mullen said Wednesday night.
The man responsible is an artist who goes by the pseudonym Hamilton Burger, according to Reporter Newspapers. He said he collected hundreds of signs and cut them up.
"I know this an insult from both sides, so it seemed appropriate," Burger, who couldn't immediately be located by the AJC, told the Reporter Newspapers. "Those who wish to be offended will be offended. I've heard all of it. Whatever you're going to see, you're going to see."
