A Gwinnett County teenager was shot and killed Saturday night during a fight in his subdivision, police said.

No arrests have been made.

Gwinnett police spokesman Sgt. Jake Smith said officers were called to the subdivision on the 4600 block of Grove Lake Street near Loganville just before 6 p.m. Witnesses reported that a “group of teenagers were fighting” in the parking lot of the neighborhood’s swim and tennis area.

When police arrived, they found  19-year-old Jacquorrius Madison suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital but later died.

“Detectives are now investigating what led to that shooting, what the fight was all about,” Smith told Channel 2 Action News. “If the fight was just a fight or robbery or a drug deal or something along those lines.”

Smith said police “rarely, if ever” have to respond to the neighborhood where the shooting happened.

One neighbor told Channel 2 that Madison and his girlfriend had just helped her with household chores the day before he was killed.

“Sounds like he was a well-liked young man,” Smith said.

A police spokesman said Sunday afternoon there were no updates in the case.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300. Tipsters can also remain anonymous — and be eligible for rewards of up to $2,000 — by contacting Crime Stoppers at crimestoppersatlanta.org, calling 404-577-8477 or texting information to 274637.
