A teenager drove a car through a wall at Payne-Corley House during a driving lesson with her father.

Correction (6/26/16): This article initially misstated the building that was driven through. It was the Payne-Corley House, an event venue in Duluth, not Chattahoochee Elementary School. A car also drove into a wall at Chattahoochee Elementary School, but the damage was much less severe. A Duluth Police Department spokesman confused the two incidents, he said.

Updated story: Learning to drive is stressful. It can be even more stressful when your parent is your teacher.

A teenager in Duluth learned that firsthand Thursday when she accidentally pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake, sending the Toyota sedan through a wall at the Payne-Corley House, a Duluth police spokesman said.

Nobody in the building was struck or injured in the accident. The girl and her father were unharmed, and no charges or citations were given to the driver, who has her learner’s permit.

It is unclear who will pay to repair the wall; since it is on private property, it is a decision between the school and the owner of the car, said Officer Ted Sadowski of the Duluth Police Department. Insurance may cover the damage, Sadowski said.
