Two people walked away from a plane crash Saturday afternoon when the small aircraft went down in a wooded area along U.S. 41 in Henry County, authorities said.

Crews responded to the crash near Bear Creek Boulevard in the city of Hampton about 3:15 p.m., Henry County police spokesman Capt. Randy Lee said.

The only two people aboard the Cessna 402 managed to free themselves from the wreckage and walk away. However, both were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, police said.

Federal Aviation Administration officials are investigating and the National Transportation Safety Board is looking into what caused the crash, authorities said.
