Gwinnett County Commissioners recently approved an intergovernmental agreement that will allow Suwanee to build a sidewalk connecting George Pierce Park and the Ruby Forest subdivision. The 800 feet of sidewalk will replace an existing natural surface trail and allow residents of the neighborhood pedestrian access to the park.
The Ruby Forest neighborhood consists of about 400 homes with access from Buford Highway. According to the agreement, “both parties agree that the trail, as a pedestrian entrance to the park and as a service to their citizenry, requires a more thorough rebuilding, including the installation of a hard surface (concrete) trail.”
Suwanee will use Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax funds to provide all design, bidding and construction services for the project. The project is being designed and put out to bid in conjunction with the Stonecypher Road sidewalk project.
