A SunTrust Park worker is out of jail after allegedly rooting around the vehicle of a Braves pitcher in the players’ parking lot.
After being alerted by Braves security staff, Cobb County police arrested Michael Ford during the April 17 game, the Monday after opening weekend.
According to a warrant, Ford stuck his arm inside the Jeep Wrangler of Braves closer Jim Johnson and started rooting around the vehicle.
He did not take anything from Johnson's Jeep, which has no windows and half-doors, the warrant reads. Ford looked into another vehicle and left the players' lot about 8:40 p.m.
The warrant said the Austell man was a contractor who worked in food services.
“The person was not a Braves employee, but worked for a subcontractor and his employment has been terminated,” according to Beth Marshall, a spokeswoman with the team.
While in handcuffs on his way to the stadium precinct, Ford pulled away and tried to run, police wrote. A lieutenant pinned the man against a wall.
He was released from Cobb jail on a bond of $9,020 after a couple of days.
