In spite of incoming snow, the shows go on at Cobb Galleria Centre and Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre this weekend.

As of Thursday afternoon, the venues planned to host multiple weekend events as scheduled, said Karen Caro, marketing manager for the sites.

Forecasters say that at least three inches of snow should blanket the area this weekend.

The group that manages emergency services for the two sites made the decision to stay open after a meeting Thursday afternoon.

The venues will host a bridal show, a men’s apparel show and an online gaming expo and competition that touts a $1 million prize.

Many of those attending the gaming event are from out of town and staying in nearby hotels, where attendees will see some familiar faces.

That’s because Caro said they have reserved rooms for their staff to make sure they can be at the events.

“We are always open. We don’t really close, we leave it up to our clients who are renting the space for our events,” Caro said.

The four-day gaming expo is for Hi-Rez Studios, an Alpharetta-based international gaming company. The contest will be streamed on Twitch, a service that lets fans watch live.

The Georgia Bridal Show will be Sunday and attended by mostly locals, Caro said. The event has gone on since 1990.

The Cobb Show, a men's apparel trade show, will have 600 fashion brands on display over two days.

Even with thousands and thousands of people filtering into the venues, Caro said the grounds and staff will be ready.

“We are prepared for our guests to arrive,” she said.
