By now, you probably know that Gwinnett — and Snellville, specifically — is getting a brand new Cracker Barrel.
The restaurant and country store is going up at 1740 Scenic Highway and, at last check, was tentatively scheduled to open by mid- to late-March of next year. While that's still a ways away, Cracker Barrel officials have already started working on the restaurant's decor — and passed along a sneak peek of what that will entail.
Spokeswoman Breeanna Straessle said each store is custom designed wall-by-wall inside a warehouse at the restaurant's corporate headquarters before being shipped to the location for final installation.
In every store, a few walls are dedicated to the local community (and state). It's those future walls that are shown in the photos below.
The first photo shows a sign for "Snell and Sawyer's Store" — intended to "pay homage to some of the city's first settlers who opened the first business in town," Straessle said.
Of course, the new Cracker Barrel is just one of several new restaurants under construction (or recently opened) in the Snellville area:
- A Zaxby's recently opened in the same Park Place shopping center where Cracker Barrel is being built. Earlier this year, Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers opened right next door.
- Culver's — of "ButterBurger" and custard fame — is under construction at Scenic Highway and Scenic Pines Drive.
- Across the highway from there, a Jim 'N Nick's Bar-B-Q opened recently, and Ovation, a dine-in movie theater concept from Carmike Cinemas, is also under construction.
- A new Cook Out location opened last weekend at 2019 Scenic Highway, and a Taco Bell is under construction next door.
