UPDATE (11/3/17, 11:55 a.m.): The Georgia Department of Transportation closed all southbound lanes on a portion of Highway 9 on Thursday and said crews will work through the weekend to repair the sinkhole and damage from it. The two northbound lanes are being utilized for traffic passing through, but GDOT is advising all motorists to use an alternate route.
ORIGINAL STORY (11/2/17, 9:25 a.m.): A sinkhole in Roswell has reopened, causing traffic headaches on a busy road in north Fulton County.
Crews thought they had the hole fixed and filled when it first appeared in August, but it showed itself again on Tuesday. A release from GDOT on Wednesday said crews would work overnight to fix the sinkhole on Highway 9 — between Oak Street and Oxbo Road — and advised motorists to seek alternative routes.
As of Thursday morning, the hole still hasn’t been fixed and parts of the road remain closed.

Channel Action 2 News reported that traffic had been reduced from four lanes to two Thursday morning and heavy equipment was at the scene for crews to continue repairs. The sinkhole reappeared in a southbound lane, diverting all traffic to northbound lanes.

On Tuesday, Roswell city spokeswoman Julie Brechbill said “it is believed the concrete that had been poured into the sinkhole a few months back has settled a couple of inches.”
