Georgia State University revealed Wednesday a glimpse of what the former Turner Field stadium looks like at this point in construction.

The school and development firm, Carter, officially closed on their $30 million purchase of the ballpark and surrounding parking lots in January.

The planned renovation of the old ballpark into the Panthers' football stadium will leave the venue essentially the same in size. It will initially have seating for 23,000 but a future phase should add another 10,000 seats, according to a Georgia State website.

The Panthers’ first game in the facility, barring unforeseen circumstances, will be the season opener for the 2017 football season against Tennessee State University on Aug. 31.

The venue is being referred to as Georgia State Stadium, but the school is seeking corporate partners and donors for multiple naming opportunities, the website says.
