Fire officials announced Thursday that Cobb County is under a burn ban until some much-needed rain comes along.

The ban begins Friday. That means no bonfire on a chilly fall night. Sigh.

"The ban is expected to be lifted when significant rainfall is received and notification will be sent out when burning may resume," according to a Facebook post from the Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services.

The fire marshal's office will also stop issuing permits for large yard waste and bonfires.

The effects of the drought in Georgia have finally reached Cobb.

But this is old news to others —like Douglas County and Clayton County and Milton, which have already implemented similar bans.
