A big job has opened up in Roswell.

The city north of Atlanta in Fulton County is looking to hire a new city administrator after Kay Love announced her resignation a few weeks ago. A description of the job says the administrator will carry out “the policies and directives of the mayor and council” and oversee business affairs and the city budget.

What exactly does a city administrator do? Love managed the day-to-day operations of Roswell’s city government. She worked with department directors, took orders from the mayor and council and managed the city’s $100 million budget.

Someone has to be in charge of all that money, and they are paid well to do so.

A brochure advertising the position says it pays $120,000 to $192,000 per year. The city administrator isn’t simply just hired, but appointed to the position by a majority vote of the mayor and council.

The job is posted online and those wishing to apply can do so by clicking here. More information on the job is available here.

Love, who will continue to be a Roswell resident, announced her resignation after 13 years on the job to take a position with the Georgia Municipal Association. Her last day is May 19.
