Fulton County Animal Control officers are investigating after a 4-month-old Yorkie puppy with severe chemical burns was brought into the shelter Monday morning, an official said.

A man told the shelter that he found the dog wandering around his yard off of Mt. Zion Road in south Atlanta.

After the dog was sedated, an employee took him to Georgia Veterinary Service for emergency burn treatment.

“The puppy is likely blind now, and will have scars all over his body,” Karen Hirsch, LifeLine Animal Project’s public relations director, said in a news release.

Hirsch said she was told that several other dogs with similar burns have come into the shelter over the past year.

Anyone with any information on this case should contact animal services cruelty investigator Paul Ebbs at 404-550-2817.

Those wishing to donate money to help with the puppy's medical bills can visit www.lifelineanimal.org.
