Powder Springs will permit bow hunting for deer this season.

The 3-2 decision was made Monday by the City Council with Councilwomen Cheryl Sarvis and Patricia Wisdom opposed and Councilwomen Doris Dawkins and Nancy Hudson and Councilman Patrick Bordelon in favor.

Although the Georgia Department of Natural Resources hunting season is underway now, the city will allow hunting to begin Oct. 1 through Jan. 31. And only on property owned by the city on Dallas Powder Springs Road in the designated wetlands area.

Hunters must possess both a valid Georgia hunting license and a valid city permit, but only 18 permits will be issued.
