A popular DeKalb County Mexican restaurant failed its health inspection last week with a variety of issues, including an “excessive amount of flies” in the kitchen and dining area.

La Pastorcita, located at 3304 Buford Highway in Brookhaven, received a 67 on the check last Thursday, according to the inspector's report.

An employee who answered the phone Wednesday said all the issues had been addressed.

The report says an employee was seen using only water to wash their hands. An employee was also seen not washing their hands at all before handling meat after texting.

The inspector told workers to fix a hole in the back screen door, which could allow in pests.

Restaurants that fail health checks are normally re-inspected within 10 days.
