March 31, 2017, Atlanta, Georgia - At the bottom of GA 400 SB drivers are given the option to head left and merge onto a one-way ramp and go to I-85 NB or head right to Sidney-Marcus Blvd. A small section of Buford Highway NE opened up the day after a portion of a bridge on I-85 NB collapsed after a fire blazed underneath it in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 31, 2017. Traffic was not in a hurry however, as an officer on the scene reported a lot of drivers on Buford Highway were holding up their phones to take video and photos as they passed by the section that collapsed. The Atlanta Fire Department continues it's investigation that will "likely continue for a while ... more than a few days" said Cortez Stafford. "We're following any leads" he said when asked about a man being taken into custody at the site. (HENRY TAYLOR / HENRY.TAYLOR@AJC.COM)
