The Peachtree Corners City Council approved zoning changes recently to regulate outdoor vending and storage lockers. At their Sept. 13 and Nov. 8 meetings, the city’s Planning Commission reviewed draft regulations for outdoor vending devices following Amazon Locker’s interest in establishing outdoor units to store and dispense packages.

Discussion at these meetings included the types of materials that could be sold at vending machines, the locations of the machines and the appearance of the units. The Planning Commission also drafted provisions for proximity of the units to the primary building, signage on the units, and limits to the number of units per property.

Among the regulations, the devices cannot exceed ten feet in height or be illuminated except for lighting intrinsic to the machine. Only two outside storage devices can be visible from the street, and must be located no more than five feet from the primary building unless approved by the city.
