Crews are continuing their search for a man who went missing Saturday afternoon on a lake in Rockdale County, officials say.

The lake is in Black Shoals Park in Rockdale County, near the Big Haynes Creek Recreational area and about 30 miles east of Atlanta.

Troy Cobb disappeared shortly after his boat sank, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Game wardens and Rockdale Fire-Rescue searched for the 46-year-old until dark and resumed the search Sunday morning, using sonar and an underwater robot, Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark McKinnon said.

Cobb’s 10th grade daughter, Rebecca Cobb, told Channel 2 that her father’s friend and son were fishing with her dad when the boat battery died.

Rebecca said her dad called one of his employees to bring out a new battery, but that battery failed, too.

Then the boat began taking on water, Channel 2 reported.

A Rockdale County spokesman said two passengers made it to shore safely, but not Troy.

“I’m just trying to hold onto hope,” Rebecca told Channel 2.

"He's a great person. He's so caring. He loves everybody,” Rebecca said. “He would help anybody in the world."

Crews on Sunday plan to search until dark, McKinnon said.

The man disappeared after his boat started taking on water.
