The Norcross City Council approved the Discovery Garden Park packet and by-laws at the Dec. 7 city council meeting. The Discovery Garden Park located on the grounds of the Norcross Welcome Center and Museum at 189 Lawrenceville St. is also home to the Norcross Community Garden.

Among the agreed upon guidelines, garden plots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis to those living and working in Norcross. Fees will be determined annually, with a 20 percent discount for seniors over 65.

Gardeners are expected to volunteer a minimum of 12 hours per year, including tending the garden’s common areas, or providing a presence at events. Gardeners with physical limitations can obtain alternate ways to serve.

There will be two semi-annual meetings with the gardeners held in May and October of each year.
