Just over two dozen educators remain in the running for Gwinnett County Public Schools' 2016-17 Teacher of the Year.

Earlier this month, the school system announced the candidates from each of its 135 participating schools. That list has now been pared down to 25 semifinalists, who are listed below.

The group includes 15 teachers from the elementary school level and five apiece from the middle and high school levels.

From here, the list will be cut to a group of six finalists, who will be observed in their classrooms and interviewed by the selection committee, which is made up of teachers, administrators and central office personnel.

The winner will be announced at a banquet on Nov. 10.
