A Marietta woman was killed shortly after midnight when she got out of a moving car, Cobb County police said Sunday.

Early investigative work shows Francisco G. Maldonado, 19, was driving south on Bridgehampton Road near Elkhart Circle when passenger Brenda G. Arreguin, 24, opened the door and exited, Sgt. Dana Pierce, a spokesman for Cobb County police said in a news release.

Arreguin was pronounced dead at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

This incident remains under investigation and anyone with information about it is asked to call the Cobb County Police Department’s S.T.E.P. Unit at (770) 499-3987.
