A man was shot in the chest in Gwinnett County on Monday afternoon, police said.

One suspect was captured shortly before 6 p.m., but another was still on the loose at that time, Gwinnett County police posted on Twitter.

The 20-year-old victim was “conscious and alert” when police arrived to the scene of the shooting in unincorporated Auburn shortly after 3:45 p.m. The incident occurred on Fence Road, a residential area.

The suspects fled the scene in a silver SUV that may have been in an accident. That car was found abandoned near the intersection of Martins Chapel Road and Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville, according to police.

The first suspect is a man in his 20s with a “short faded haircut” and sleeve tattoos on both arms, standing between six feet and six feet three inches and wearing a black shirt. The second suspect is a man between 20 and 25, standing six feet tall with an afro, according to police.

The motive for the shooting is still being investigated, police said.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact Gwinnett County detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tips may be rewarded with up to $2,000 if they lead to an arrest or indictment.
