Police in Henry County are reviewing surveillance video to identify a man who shot at a group of teenagers Sunday morning at a Waffle House.

One of the teens told Channel 2 Action News the situation escalated quickly inside of the restaurant on Hudson Bridge Road.

The man came in to the Waffle House upset about Saturday night’s fight between boxer Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor, the teen told the news station.

"He came in talking real loud (and) yelling stuff about Floyd Mayweather," he said.

The teens had just paid for their food and were about to drive away when the man “yelled out that our time was coming and we need to watch out for ourselves,” the teen said.

Father and football coach Anthony Mitchell told Channel 2 his 15 and 16-year-old sons and their friends were in the group.

"Six innocent kids' lives are going to be changed for the rest of their lives because of this one incident," he said. "This is going to pass, but at the same time, it's a shocking experience to them."

The teenagers ducked before the man shot about five times, hitting their car at least once.

"If (my friend) didn't see the gun and he didn't duck, my friend could have lost his life," the teen said.

The teens told Channel 2 the man was with a woman and drove a bright red pickup truck with University of Alabama stickers and a black flag on the back.

Call Henry County police at 770-288-8200 if you can help with the case.
