Gunfire erupted at a Glenwood Road apartment complex just before midnight in a brazen shootout that left a man dead.

Details on the Saturday night shootout at Decatur Gardens apartments, near Columbia Drive, have been slow to come so far. DeKalb County police have charged one man who was found shot on the scene with murder, but have asked the Atlanta Journal-Constitution not to release his name at this time for fear that it could compromise the ongoing investigation.

The name of the victim hasn’t been released. Police haven’t said whether the victim was involved in the shooting.

A police report said a shotgun, a rifle and several handguns were involved as two groups fired at each other outside the apartment buildings.

An officer who responded found unused shotgun shells in the middle of the street, shells that appeared to come from a rifle and several handguns.
