When Von Maur entered Atlanta in 2010, the company president said he envisioned three stores in the market. And when the Iowa-based department store opens at the Mall of Georgia on Sept. 17, that vision will be realized.

The first Georgia location opened in a former Belk at North Point Mall in Alpharetta, and the second took over a Bloomingdale's at Perimeter Mall.

The new two-level, 165,000-square-foot store will assume the mall's renovated anchor spot, which was vacated by Nordstorm in February 2015.

Teresa Holloway, Mall of Georgia director of marketing, said the mall has "heard nothing but positive feedback from the Gwinnett community” regarding the new store.

Other planned upcoming openings at the Mall of Georgia include Charleys Philly Steaks, the second location of the live room escape game Paranoia Quest and ThinkGeek, which will be opening its first brick-and-mortar storefront in Georgia. Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill opened in August
