Six apartment homes were ruined in a fire Monday afternoon in Decatur, officials said.

The blaze broke out at the Park Trace Apartments on Atlanta Avenue.

That leaves seven people without a place to sleep for the immediate future, but the Red Cross is providing emergency assistance, spokeswoman Sherry Nicholson said.

Displaced residents will receive help with food, clothing and temporary lodging, she said.

“Caseworkers will continue to work with the residents this week to help them get back on their feet,” Nicholson said.
