Lilburn’s mayor and city council recently approved a 3 percent across the board salary increase for police officers. This takes the minimum starting salary from $39,780 to $40,974. Depending on education, certification, and years of prior experience, officers have the potential entry-level salary of $46,096. An additional 5 percent pay increase is available for officers holding a bachelor’s degree. Funds for the increased salaries come from the city’s operating budget.

The Lilburn Police Department has 32 sworn positions and five civilian support staff positions. Lilburn police officers work 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off and have about 10 paid holidays. LPD officers are also provided a take home vehicle; primary weapon systems, patrol rifle, shotgun, X2 Taser, MDT, body worn camera, uniforms, ballistic vest and more.

A Gwinnett County police officers’ starting salary ranges between $36,074 and $38,777 depending on training. To remain competitive, county officers may soon receive as much as a 6 percent salary increase bringing their starting salaries into competitive range with cities like Lilburn.
