After examining the Walnut Grove pressure improvement project more thoroughly, the Lawrenceville gas department has decided that it needs more protection for the gas lines. Todd Hardigree, gas department director, noted this added protection from rock will save money on the amount of rock shield to be purchased as the pipe is installed and will offer even more protection from the risk of coating damage. Coating damage is the No. 1 risk of corrosion leaks after installation of steel pipe.

The Lawrenceville City Council approved the change order with Consolidated Pipe and Supply to add 5,000 feet of additional protective epoxy coating to the existing contract for materials in the amount of $36,000. The change order is required to make the purchase and remains within budget for the project.
