The MLK Birth Home is closed through April 3.

Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site will extend the temporary closure of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s childhood home through April 3 due to an ongoing condition assessment. Tours of the Birth Home will not be offered during this time.

The condition assessment is important to the ongoing preservation of the Birth Home and will assist the park in determining whether the structure’s second floor can be reopened to the public. Park officials will use findings from the condition assessment to determine future preservation needs and plans.
